15.2 CHARGING THE BATTERY
The battery is charged with the fast charger
(Fig. 1) or via the link cable if this cable is con-
nected to the system.
WARNING
Risk of battery explosion!
Do not use non-system battery
chargers.
CAUTION !
At ambient temperatures of be-
low 10 °C (50 °F) charging of the
battery becomes problematic.
Use the line-operated battery char-
ger available as an original sys-
tem accessory whenever possible
only at a room temperature of 20 °C
(68 °F).
The ambient temperature during
charging must not exceed 45 °C
(113 °F). Risk of damage to the
battery.
Charging with the charger
After insertion of the battery into the charger,
the charger starts up in the quick-charge mode.
When the battery is full, the charger changes
over to the trickle-charge mode.
The average charging time for an empty battery
is roughly 3 hours.
The charger is designed in such a way that
damage to the battery is excluded.
The green LED 1 flashes during the charging
cycle and is lit up permanently when the battery
is full (trickle-charge mode).
The red LED 2 is lit up when the charger is
connected to the power supply.
