4. MOUNTING
WARNING! Ensure the hose is disconnected from the air supply. DO NOT position the hose in direct sun light or in areas of
extreme heat or cold.
4.1. Ensure that the structure to which the air hose is to be fixed is of sound construction and that the securing point will hold the working
strain of the hose when in use.
4.2. To wall mount the reel, first remove the wall mounting bracket (fig.1A) from the reel, pull out the bracket retaining screws (fig.1B) to
release the bracket. Position the bracket on the wall surface and mark out the mounting holes, having checked that the main body will
turn sufficiently to allow the hose to be extended without rubbing on either side of the air hose housing.
4.3. Drill the holes larger than the screws that will be used to secure the hose reel. Insert wall plugs into the holes and screw mount the
bracket and reattach the hose reel.
4.4. Before use, check that all fixings are safe and secure, and that the hose extends and retracts with ease.

Overview

The Sealey Retractable Air Hose, models SA811, SA812.V3, SA813.V3, and SA814.V2, is designed to provide a convenient and reliable solution for air supply in various working environments. This product is manufactured to a high standard, ensuring durability and trouble-free performance when used and maintained correctly. Users are advised to read the instructions carefully, noting all safe operational requirements, warnings, and cautions to prevent damage, personal injury, and invalidation of the warranty.

Function Description

The primary function of the Sealey Retractable Air Hose is to deliver compressed air to tools and equipment. It features a heavy-duty polypropylene casing that protects the internal components and the hose itself. The hose is made of double-braided polyurethane, known for its durability and flexibility. It comes fitted with 1/4"BSP female inlets and 1/4"BSPT male outlets, ensuring compatibility with standard air supply systems and tools.

A key feature of this device is its auto-layering mechanism. This system is designed to distribute the air hose evenly back into the reel housing as it retracts, preventing tangles and jams. This mechanism ensures smooth operation and extends the life of the hose by preventing kinks and uneven wear. The hose can be extended to the desired length and will lock into position, allowing the user to work without constant tension. To retract the hose, the user simply pulls it slightly further to disengage the locking mechanism, and the hose will automatically rewind into the casing.

The reel is supplied with a mounting bracket and a fixing kit, enabling easy attachment to walls or ceilings. This allows for flexible placement in a workshop or garage, ensuring the hose is always within reach but out of the way when not in use. The design emphasizes ease of use and efficient storage, contributing to a safer and more organized workspace.

Usage Features

Operating the Sealey Retractable Air Hose involves straightforward steps. To extend the hose, pull it out slowly to the desired length. Once the tension is released, the hose should lock into position. If it starts to retract, pull it slightly further to engage the locking mechanism. It is crucial not to over-extend the hose, as this can cause the retraction mechanism to malfunction.

When retracting the hose, pull it out from the locked position and then release the tension. The hose will automatically rewind into the casing. The reel tension is factory set, and any adjustments should only be made by an authorized service agent.

Safety is paramount when using this device. Users must familiarise themselves with the application and limitations of the air hose reel and its specific hazards. Always disconnect the air hose reel from the air supply before servicing or performing any maintenance. The unit should be maintained in good condition, with damaged parts replaced using only recommended components. Unauthorized parts can be dangerous and will invalidate the warranty.

The air hose reel should be located and fixed in a suitable working area, ensuring correct fixings are used to secure it to the wall. It should not be positioned in direct sunlight or areas of extreme heat or cold, nor should it be mounted inside a spray booth or oven. Adequate lighting in the working area is also important. Users must ensure that the maximum air pressure is not exceeded and avoid over-extending the hose.

During use, keep the extended air hose away from heat, oil, and sharp edges. Before each use, check the hose for wear and ensure all connections are secure. The unwound air hose should be kept away from wet, damp, or oily surfaces. Approved eye protection must always be worn when operating the air hose reel. Maintaining correct balance and footing, ensuring the floor is not slippery, and wearing non-slip shoes are also vital. Loose clothing, ties, watches, rings, and other loose jewelry should be removed, and long hair should be contained or tied back. Children and unauthorized persons must be kept away from the working area.

The air hose reel should not be operated if any parts are damaged or missing, as this can lead to failure or personal injury. It should only be used for its intended purpose. Avoid yanking the hose from the air supply. Do not operate the reel when tired or under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or intoxicating medication. Never direct air from the hose at yourself or others. When not in use, turn off the air supply, disconnect tools, and retract the hose into its casing. It is strictly warned not to dismantle the hose reel casing, as this can cause damage, personal injury, and invalidate the warranty. Internal maintenance requiring casing opening must only be performed by an authorized service agent.

Maintenance Features

Maintaining the Sealey Retractable Air Hose is crucial for its longevity and reliable performance. Before attempting any maintenance or inspection, it is essential to vent any pressure remaining in the hose.

Regular cleaning of the hose and casing is recommended to ensure reliable operation. The unit should be cleaned only with a cloth and warm water. It is important not to spray or wet the unit directly. Solvents or detergents should not be used, as they can cause permanent damage to the device.

The hose reel is designed to be lubricated for life and generally does not require special maintenance. If the casing needs to be opened for any reason, users should consult their nearest authorized service agent. It is explicitly warned not to attempt to loosen or remove any casing screws.

Replacement of the supply hose should only be carried out by skilled personnel. Again, consulting an authorized service agent is recommended for such tasks.

For storage, ensure the hose reel is clean and dry. It should be placed in a dark, dry, childproof location where the temperature remains reasonably stable. Storing the unit in a nylon or plastic bag is discouraged, as this can encourage condensation, potentially leading to damage.

By adhering to these maintenance guidelines, users can ensure the continued safe and efficient operation of their Sealey Retractable Air Hose for many years.
