What does a breakpoint on
a transfer characteristic do?
Without a breakpoint, the transfer characteristic between input and output is
purely linear. A breakpoint allows the curve to be adjusted for non-linear
characteristics. For example, this can be done to apply a correction for a
deficiency in a sensor, or to ‘roll off’ the sensitivity at the top end.
