What to do if there's no electric current in my serva Blue Medical Equipment?
    • J
      Jeffrey MarquezAug 18, 2025
If there is no electric current and the drawer control lamps do not illuminate after starting the power supply, it could be due to several reasons. First, the electronic control might be detecting a wrong orientation of the electric field; in this case, plug the power supply cables in correctly, ensuring the black cable is connected to the cathode and the red cable to the anode. Second, the electronic control may detect that one or more drawers do not contain a gel; if running less than four gels, unplug the unused electrode lids and place them in the parking position. Third, the lids might not be properly positioned or plugged in; re-position the lids and check the connections between the lids and drawers.

Why is the migration of front very slow in serva Blue?
    • V
      vasquezwilliamAug 20, 2025
If the migration of the front is very slow and will not reach the anode in time, it could be due to several reasons. The gel might be getting hot during electrophoresis because of insufficient heat dissipation, so check the chiller temperature and ensure no other apparatus is connected to the same chiller. Alternatively, the BlueHorizon might be subject to hot exhaust from the chiller or other apparatus, so relocate the chiller or other apparatus. Also, the gel could be getting hot during electrophoresis because too much power is applied per gel; if you run less than four gels at a time, reduce the mA and W settings in the power supply accordingly, following the manual strictly. Finally, adjust the mA and W settings according to the number of gels run.

How to fix no water flow in serva Blue Medical Equipment after switching on the chiller?
    • A
      Amanda MoralesAug 23, 2025
If there is no water flow after the chiller is switched on, it could be due to air bubbles between the film backing and the cooling plate. To resolve this, remove excess fluid with lint-free tissue paper. Also, avoid switching on the chiller during gel application and sample loading, as excess cooling fluid around the film support can cause this issue.

How to resolve wrongly connected or kinked tubing in serva Medical Equipment?
    • J
      jessicaharperAug 28, 2025
To resolve wrongly connected tubing or a kinked tube, straighten the tubing. Also, check the tubing connections: ensure the Chiller-'Out' is connected to the chamber 'In'.

Why are there vertical streaking in my 2D Gels serva Blue Medical Equipment?
    • C
      Cody BennettAug 30, 2025
Vertical streaking in 2D gels can be caused by insufficient equilibration of the IPG strip. To solve this, use the equilibration buffer supplied with the HPE gels, weigh out the correct amounts of DTT and IAA (should be of highest reagent quality), following the manual.

How to fix uneven buffer concentration in serva Blue electrode wicks?
    • J
      Joshua CastroSep 2, 2025
Uneven buffer concentration within the electrode wicks can be caused by local heat production at IPG strip(s) because of the electroendosmotic effect. Always hold electrode wicks horizontal when carrying them to the gel.

What causes gel edges to curl up during scanning with serva Medical Equipment?
    • L
      lramosSep 5, 2025
Gel edges curl up during scanning because the gel edges start to dry out. To prevent this, apply a Scan-Frame on the edges of the gel during scanning.

What to do if the run stops and there is sparking at the IPG strip(s) in serva Medical Equipment?
    • R
      Ryan ThomasSep 7, 2025
If the run stops, the front does not continue to migrate, and there is sparking at the IPG strip(s), it is due to a strong electroendosmosis effect at the IPG strip(s), because it has not been removed minutes. Remove IPG strip(s) from gel after the first 70 minutes and then continue the run. Follow strictly the manual.

What to do if the IPG strip has become too dry in serva Blue Medical Equipment?
    • A
      Anthony FarleySep 9, 2025
Ensure that there is still a thin layer of buffer on the surface of the IPG strip.
