Battery replacement

For example, if you replace the battery in December, 1996, write:
Set the battery replacement switch to “Replace OPERATING bat-
teries”.
Slide out the battery holder and remove the old batteries from the
battery compartment using a bail-point pen or similar object. (Be
sure to keep the memory backup battery installed while doing
this.)
Clean the new batteries carefully with a dry cloth, then insert
them, making sure that the
“+”
side faces up.
Slide the battery holder back into place.
Set the battery replacement switch back to “Normal Operation”.
If the battery replacement switch is not set to “Normal Operation”,
the Organizer will not operate properly.
Replace the rear cover.
Press
m
to turn the power on. If the power is not turned on or
a meaningless display appears, press the. RESET switch on the
back. If the Organizer still does not operate properly, repeat the
battery replacement procedure from the beginning.
Memory
backup
battery
The
life
of
the
memory
backup
battery
The memory backup battery in your Organizer has an effective life of
about
5
years under normal operating conditions. Note that tempera-
ture extremes can shorten the battery life and cause memory losses.
The memory backup battery was installed at the factory.

Replace the memory backup battery every 5 years, or when the
message appears.

Note:
Extremes of temperature will shorten battery life and endan-
ger the memory information.
Replacing
the
memory
backup
battery
When replacing the memory backup battery, make sure that the
ope-
rating batteries are not depleted. If the operating batteries are deple-
ted, replace these before replacing the memory backup battery. If you
replace the memory backup battery while the operating battery is
depleted, all of the data in the memory will be lost.
Press

to turn the power off.
Press the rear cover and slide to remove it.
Set the battery replacement switch to “Replace MEMORY backup
battery”.
Slide out the battery holder, then remove the old battery from the
battery compartment using a bail-point pen or similar object. (At
this time, make sure that you keep the operating batteries instal-
led.)

5. Clean the new battery carefully with a dry cloth, then insert it,
making sure that the

When you remove the insulation band from the memory backup bat-
tery, or replace the battery, write down the date on the label of the
Organizer so you know when to replace the battery next time.
