and is congured by means of the intuitive Flexi Soft Designer
software. The SICK-specic EFI interface
(EFI = Enhanced Function
Interface)
transmits data for the safety-related communication,
enabling enhanced sensor functions.
Saving on controller intelligence in the safety laser scanners
themselves results in a crucial cost benet: You only have to buy
and program the control electronics once, in the form of the Flexi Soft.
The SICK-specic EFI interface signicantly reduces the amount
of cabling you need.
