5 Installation Procedure (continued)
5.6 Battery module attachment/fitting
The battery module has been designed to be attached only to the Compact Recloser
in the correct orientation and is magnetically latched.
The battery module can be installed onto the Compact Recloser before the Compact
Recloser is installed on the line, or it can be installed and removed at any time later
from ground level. Ground-level attachment and removal are achieved using the
battery module attachment tool (supplied as a separate accessory) and a live-line
tool (hot stick) with universal a splined head.

WARNING
Falling objects
May cause serious injury
When removing or installing a battery module, use appropriate personal
protective equipment, including a hard hat.
To install a Battery Module to a Compact Recloser in service, follow these steps:

A. Fit the attachment tool to the
universal splined head on a
live-line tool (hot stick).
B. Place battery module in the
attachment tool in the orientation
that does not latch.
C. Lift battery module into the air and
insert it into the Compact Recloser.
D. The attachment tool is then
lowered, and the battery module
remains in place.
