6 Operation (continued)
Fig 26b: Close operation of manual trip handle
If the recloser had automatically tripped to lockout, then the recloser is open, and
all yellow handles are in the up position. To close the recloser, one of the yellow
manual handles must first be toggled to the down position, and then returned to
the up position to activate the manual close function.
NOTICE
Do not pull down on the manual operating handle with excessive force.
The handle is fully operated when it is in the horizontal position.
6.3 Non-reclose/hot line tag handle
An operator uses the red operating handle to change the way a Compact Recloser
works for operational reasons such as live line working (hot line tag).
The effect of pulling the handle down is determined by the configuration. However,
the handle is typically used to disable reclosing such that any protection event will
cause a single trip to lockout. Only the controller pole of a multi-phase recloser
is fitted with this red handle.
When the handle has changed state, the LED light will blink, confirming to the
operator that the Compact Recloser has recognised the handle change of position
and has applied the alternative protection mode.
The recloser can always be manually tripped regardless of the position of the
non-reclose handle. The ability to manually close when the non-recloser handle
is down is set by a configuration option.
NOTICE
Do not pull down on the non-reclose handle with excessive force. The lever
is fully operated when it is in the horizontal position.
