1.2 Signal words
Throughout this document there are several types of safety alert messages.
The signal words “danger,” “warning, “caution” and “notice” used in this instruction
manual indicate the degree of hazard that may be encountered by the user.
These words are defined as:
DANGER
Indicates an imminently hazardous situation that, if not avoided, will likely
result in death or serious injury.
WARNING
Indicates a potentially hazardous situation that, if not avoided, could result
in death or serious injury.
CAUTION
Indicates a potentially hazardous situation that, if not avoided, may result in
minor or moderate injury.
NOTICE
Indicates a potentially hazardous situation that, if not avoided, may result in
property damage.
1.3 Safety instructions
DANGER
Hazardous voltage
Will cause death, serious injury or property damage
Do not work on energized equipment. Always de-energize and ground the lines
before working on the equipment.
If live-line work must be performed, follow requirements of local occupational
health and safety regulations and employ personal protective equipment (PPE)
suitable for the voltages involved. It is the user’s responsibility to develop safe
and adequate working procedures complying with these requirements.
The Compact Recloser may be energized from either side. Always consider all parts
as energized until they are de-energized, tested for absence of voltage, and grounded.
1.4 Proper application
WARNING
Hazardous voltages
Can result in death or serious injury
The correctly rated Compact Recloser model must be selected for the system voltage
such that the self powering function works within specified upper and lower limits.
A sustained excessive system voltage may lead to catastrophic failure of the
Recloser that could result in death or serious injury.
