Appendix
Care
¤ Wipe down the base station and hand-
set with a damp cloth (no solvents) or
an antistatic cloth.
Never use a dry cloth. This can cause
static.
Contact with liquid
¤ Switch the handset off immediately if it
comes into contact with liquid.
¤ Do not switch the handset on under
any circumstances.
¤ Remove the batteries immediately.
Allow the liquid to drain from the handset.
Proceed only as follows:
¤ Hold the handset horizontally with the
open battery compartment facing
down.
¤ Hold the handset vertically. Tip the
handset lightly forwards and back-
wards and shake it slightly.
¤ Dab all parts dry and then leave the
handset for at least 72 hours with the
battery compartment open and the
keypad facing down in a dry, warm
place (not : microwave, oven or simi-
lar).
When it has fully dried out you will nor-
mally be able to use it again.

The handset display is blank.
1. The handset is not switched on.
¥ Press the 'end call' key a and hold.
2. The batteries are flat.
¥ Charge or replace the batteries (page 8).
The handset/base station does not react to
pressing a key.
The keypad lock is activated.
¥ Press the hash key long (page 9).
"Base station x" flashes in the display.
1. The handset is outside the range of the base
station.
¥ Move the handset/base station closer
together.
2. The handset has been de-registered.
¥ Register the handset (page 45).
3. The base is not switched on.
¥ Check the base's mains adapter (page 7).
Base Search flashes in the handset display.
The handset is set to Best Base and no base sta-
tion is switched on or within range.
¥ Move the handset/base station closer
together.
¥ Check the base's mains adapter (page 7).
Handset/base station does not ring.
1. The ringtone is switched off.
¥ Activate the ringtone (page 53).
2. Call diversion set to All Calls.
¥ Switch off call diversion (page 19).
You hear no ringtone/dial tone.
The base station telephone cable has been
changed.
¥ Make sure you get the right jack connec-
tions when buying from a mobile phone
retailer (page 7).
