7.1 Configuring with PROFINET IO
Including the SCALANCE X-200
To include the individual switches as PN IO devices, the devices of the SCALANCE X-200
product line must exist in the module catalog under PROFINET IO.
Procedure
To add the devices of the SCALANCE X-200 product line to the catalog for the first time,
follow the steps outlined below:
1. In the dialog, select HW Config -> Options "Install GSD files".
The following dialog opens:

2. Use the browse function to locate the supplied xml file (for example gsdml-v1.0-Siemens-
SCALANCE_X_2xx-20040729.xml).
3. Then adopt the file using the "Install" function.
The devices of the SCALANCE X-200 product line are now included in the module
catalog (refer to the module catalog in the following figure).
4. Drag the required SCALANCE X-200 from the hardware catalog, here, for example
SCALANCE X208, - PROFINET IO > Switching Devices > SCALANCE > SCALANCE X-
208 to the PROFINET IO system.
