Getting Started Rack PC 840

1 USB
Universal Serial Bus connector. You can use the USB port to connect external devices, for example,
CD drives, printers, modems as well as mouse and keyboard. Older operating systems do not support
this port. This connection is provided for maintenance purposes.
2 Reset Button
The reset button can be actuated with a thin pen (e.g. an opened up paper clip). If you actuate, the
button, a hardware reset is triggered. The PC restarts. Data loss is possible with a hardware reset.
3 On/OffĆButton
Use the On/Off pushbutton to power up the Rack PC. Please do not start your Rack PC until you have
followed all of the instructions for commissioning.
4 Floppy Disk Drive (optional)
You can store programs and data on diskettes with the disk drive and load them from diskettes into
the Rack PC.
5 CDĆROM Drive (optional)
You can read data from CD-ROM, CD-RW and Audio/Video in the CD ROM drive.
5 CDĆRW Drive (optional, not represented)
In this drive you can use rewriteable CDs.
6 Dummy Panels (optional)
Depending on the device configuration, the components labelled ‘optional’ are either built in or the
openings are closed with dummy panels.
6 Removeable Rack (optional, not represented)
There is a removable rack for the EIDE interface.
7 3.5" Dummy Panel
8 Housing Screw
Screw for fastening the housing cover.
Caution
Only qualified personnel is authorized to open the Rack PC or carry out repairs or maintenance
work.
