Preconditions for the next steps
WARNING
Unpredictable motor motion with an encoder that has not yet been programmed
If you commission the motor with an encoder that has not been programmed, then the motor
can move unpredictably, which in turn, can cause death or severe injury.
• Load the electronic rating plate of the encoder before you commission the encoder.
• The motor is electrically connected.
• There must not be any data on the encoder (brand-new encoder).
If data is already loaded to the encoder, then you must 󹪝rst completely clear data from the
encoder. In this case, go to Chapter "This is how you delete the electronic rating plate on an
encoder (Page 54)".
• You have access to SINAMICS parameters via a commissioning tool or the web server of a
SINAMICS S120/S220 converter.
• You can commission the motor from a control panel (in the commissioning tool or as
hardware switch).
Entering the data source
Parameter p4693 speci󹪝es where the data backup of the electronic rating plate is located, which
is to be restored.
• There, enter the directory number in which you saved the downloaded 󹪝le.
For example, "250" for "C250".
Determine the component number of the motor with the replaced encoder from Alarm message
A1840
Procedure
1. The motor with the replaced encoder must now be connected to the converter.
Select a previously unused DRIVE-CLiQ port to operate the motor in an acyclic mode.
2. In the commissioning tool or in the web server the following alarm message is displayed:
"1840: SMI: Component without motor data found (component number): x"
The component number x is the number of the motor with the replaced encoder.
The component number is also in the associated alarm value r2124 (decimal).
The component number should be greater than/equal to 200.
