3.5.4 Grounding details
Overview
It is essential that the SINAMICS PM250D Power Module is grounded correctly to avoid
sporadic trips and unpredictable EMC problems occurring during the operation of the
Inverter.
Grounding principle
The PE terminal located on the left-hand side of the Power Module and is used to ground the
Inverter to the local grounding terminals; this may be the backplane or busbar ground utilized
by the overall installation. Where the ground cable is connected to the backplane or busbar,
it must be a clean connection which is not contaminated by paint or dirt.
It is recommended that a ring clamp is used to terminate the cable to ensure a good physical
connection which is resistant to accidental disconnection.
The minimum cross-section of the grounding cable must be no less than 10 mm
2
.
The Maximum torque of the PE terminal is 1.5 Nm (13.3 lbf.in)
The location and recommended fitting arrangement is shown in the figure below.
