What causes Siemens SINAMICS G120X drive faults with 'PolID incorrect' message?
    • I
      iparkerJul 25, 2025
If your Siemens Media Converter is showing drive faults with the message 'PolID incorrect', it could be due to the motor having significant pole saliency or the pole position identification current being too high. To solve this, change the PolID technique p1980 to value 4 or 10. If the pole position identification current is too high, reduce the value in p329, doing so in approximately 10% steps, as too low a value can lead to inaccuracy in motor control.

Why does my Siemens Media Converter motor current increase at low speeds?
    • R
      Roy DavisJul 31, 2025
If the motor current of your Siemens Media Converter increases significantly when operating at low speeds continually, and there are no mechanical issues, it might be because the motor is operating below the minimum allowed speed defined by the p1755 Motor model changeover speed encoderless operation parameter. To resolve this, ensure that the motor is always operated above the p1755 value and never below 15% of its rated speed. You can also set the Minimum speed p1080 to be greater than p1755.

What to do if Siemens SINAMICS G120X Media Converter motor stalls?
    • T
      Tammy RojasAug 7, 2025
If your Siemens Media Converter motor stalls or struggles to run-up, it could be due to not enough starting torque being generated by the drive or the motor's magnetic circuit being oversaturated. To address this, try increasing the p1610 or/and p1611 value. Allow the motor to cool down before attempting to re-run it. If the magnetic circuit is oversaturated, check the settings of p1610 and p1611 and reduce them gradually in 10% steps to observe the effect.

How to fix Siemens Media Converter motor oscillations?
    • A
      Alexandria AdamsAug 12, 2025
If your Siemens Media Converter motor oscillates or tends to oscillate, it may be because the transition between open loop to closed loop phase during acceleration is not stable, or the closed loop controller gains are inappropriate. To stabilize the transition, gradually increase p1755 in approximately 10% steps until the transition is smooth. If the controller gains are inappropriate, perform speed controller optimization, as described in chapter 3.3.1.

How to prevent Siemens SINAMICS G120X motor overspeed fault?
    • D
      duffywilliamAug 18, 2025
If you are experiencing a motor overspeed fault with your Siemens Media Converter, it could be due to speed overshoot at the end of fast acceleration. To resolve this, increase the p1120 Ramp up time or increase p1131 Final rounding 1. You can also perform speed controller optimization, as detailed in chapter 3.3.1.
