Use
● For Normally Open and Normally Closed applications using Normally Open PICV Series
– 0.5 inch, 599-04320-XX and 599-04321-XX
– 0.75 inch, 599-04322-XX
– 1 inch, 599-04323-XX
– 1.25 inch, 599-04314-XX
● Replacement only for SSD61_U or SSD81.5U actuators on Normally Closed PICV
Series
– 0.5 inch, 599-04300-XX and 599-04301-XX
– 0.75 inch, 599-04302-XX and 599-04303-XX
– 1 inch, 599-04304-XX
– 1.25 inch, 599-04305-XX
● Typical application in chilled ceiling, VAV, unit ventilators, fan coil unit and other terminal
unit applications
● Max.10 units of SSD161S.05DU, SSD161S.25DU can operate in parallel, provided the
controller output suffices.
● For 3-position actuator, SSD131.29U, 24 actuators can run in parallel.
NOTICE
● SSD131.29U floating fail-safe actuators cannot be run in parallel with legacy SSD81.5U
actuators.
● For parallel operation of floating fail-safe SSD actuators all actuators in parallel must be
the same part number.
Technical design
When the actuator is driven by DC 0…10 V control voltage or floating control signal, it is
converted to a mechanical stroke which controls the position of valve stem.
3-position control signal (for SSD131.29U only)
● Voltage at Y1:
Stem extends
Normally open valve closes,
normally closed valve opens
● Voltage at Y2:
Stem retracts
Normally open valve opens,
normally closed valve closes
● No voltage at Y1 or Y2:
Actuator maintains its current position
● Voltage applied to both Y1
and Y2 (not recommended):
When no power is supplied, the
SSD131.29U actuator fails with
either the stem fully retracted or
fully extended, depending on the
position of the associated fail
up/fail down DIP switch.
Stem moves to Y2
