6.9.5. Alarm beacon X85
Alarm Beacons X85 and X88 can be connected to the INFRA Monitoring
System in the same way sensor nodes are connected. However, their
existence is not visible in the display, and they will not affect the number
of sensors in the system. This is due to the fact that Alarm Beacon
X85/X88 is a pure listener on the sensor network, and never sends any
messages to the datalogger.
The functionality of the Alarm beacon is such that D10/D10 Micro
evaluates signals from all connected sensor nodes and sends an alarm
signal to X85/X88 when the alarm level is exceeded by any of the node
signals. One common configuration of X85/X88 is stored in the memory
of the D10/D10 Micro, and one or many Alarm beacons can be connected.
They will then share the same configuration and behave equally.
There are two parameters to configure:
1. Beacon level, a percentage value which node data are compared with,
and has three different meanings depending on its value:
• 0%: The alarm beacon is shut off.
• 1% - 99%: The alarm triggers on Interval data. The
interval value from each node is compared to the upper
trigger level (of the node). If a value is above the alarm
setting, the relay of the X85 will be activated. Pile driving
is one application where this function is intended to be
used.
• 100% - 1000%: The alarm triggers on Transient data.
The transient maximum value from each node is
compared to the upper trigger level of its node. If a value
is above the alarm setting, the relay of the X85 will be
activated.
2. Beacon duration, which decides how long time the alarm is active.
