ADJUSTMENTS
Clutch
and
Brake
Rod:
The
correct
adjustment
of
the
clutch
and
brake
pedal
link¬
age
is
vital
to
smooth
machine
motion
and
braking.
These
adjustments
also
determine
the
effectiveness
of
the
anti-
rollback
feature.
You
may
wish
to
raise
the
tractor
to
the
vertical
position.
Be
sure
to
drain
fuel
if
necessary,
and
remove
battery
before
tilting
the
tractor.
Make
the
adjust¬
ments
as
follows:

Depress
the
foot
pedal
and
check
the
contact
of
the
brake
band
with
the
brake
drum.
The
band
must
conform
fully
to
the
curvature
of
the
drum.
If
it
does
not,
loosen
the
bolt
as
shown
and
align
the
band
with
the
drum.
Tighten
the
bolt.

Figure
9)

With
the
foot
pedal
released
(up),
secure
the
brake
rod
set
collar
against
the
tapered
coil
spring.
Be
sure
to
position
the
collar
as
shown
in
Figure
10
so
that
the
spring
is
NOT
compressed.
Depress
the
foot
pedal
all
the
way
down,
ft
should
stop
two
and
one-half
inches
from
the
foot
rest
edge
as
shown
in
Figure
11.
Re-adjust
the
set
collar
if
necessary
to
obtain
the
two
and
one-half
inch
distance.

With
the
foot
pedal
released
(up
so
the
clutch
idler
pul¬
ley
is
pressed
firmly
against
the
belt
(Figure
12),
the
dis¬
tance
between
the
clutch
rod,
elastic
stop
nut
and
the
end
of
the
rod
guide
should
be
five-eights
(5/8)
inch
as
shown
in
Figure
13.
