Scanner Operations Exiting Scan Tool Tests
5.4 Exiting Scan Tool Tests
The scan tool remains open as long as there is an active communication link with the vehicle. You
must disconnect this communication link in order to exit from scan tool tests. A warning message
displays if you attempt to shut down with the scan tool communicating.
NOTE:
i Damage to the vehicle electronic control module (ECM) may occur if communication is disrupted.
Make sure the data cable and the USB cable are properly connected at all times during testing.
Exit all tests before disconnecting the test cable or powering down the tool.
z To exit scan tool tests:
1. From an active screen, select Exit from the toolbar to return to the Systems Menu.
2. From the Systems Menu, select Back.
A stopping communications message briefly displays followed by the Main menu.
Now, the
scan tool is no longer communicating with the vehicle and it is safe to disconnect the data cable
from the vehicle.
