the serial number, model information and firmware revision of the connected box, as well as
the DSP load for the unit. All of this information can be useful in trying to track down any con-
nection problems that may arise.
If there is no information displayed in the Box Info section, the software is not communicating
properly with the Series 300 hardware, or there is no Series 300 present on the FireWire bus.
If the FireWire light on the front panel of the Series 300 is illuminated but the box information
does not appear in the Console window, it is very likely that the software has not been installed
properly. If this is the case, please refer to the installation instructions for details on how to
properly install the software. Also, please ensure that there are no copies of the Driver in the
same folder as the Sonic Console application or any of the ASIO drivers that you will use with
an ASIO host.
If, on the other hand, the FireWire light on the front panel of the Series 300 is not illuminated,
the box is not communicating properly with the computer. Please check the cabling of your
Series 300 and other devices on the FireWire bus and make sure that everything is connected
correctly. If that does not properly establish the connection, try rebooting your computer. As a
last resort, try connecting only the Series 300 to the computer to ensure that communication
can be established.
3.1.2 Mixer Pane
The Mixer is a “soft” or dynamically configured mixing console and is accessed via the Mixer
button at the top left of Sonic Console, just to the right of the Analog I/O Control button. Like
the Analog I/O Control pane, the Mixer is largely configured via the Mix/Output Routing pane.
The Mixer is dynamically assigned, according to the current state of the routing matrix in the
Mix/Output Routing pane. Depending on the configuration of the routing matrix, the Mixer will
provide mono or stereo faders, with metering, solo, mute and pan controls, if applicable. Op-
tion–clicking on a fader knob will reset it to unity gain.
