MAKING RELIABLE CONNECTIONS
All connections in the engine bay area mu st be m ad e by using either solder-joints
or good quality crimp termination’s.
Warning: The use of Insulation Displacement Connectors (I.D.C.’s) such as
scotch locks is not recommended in the engine bay area. The use of
IDCs in this area may r esult i n the alarm failing to op erate correctly or
cause false alarms.
IDC connectors can by used
inside the ve hicle interior but you must follow the
instructions below to ensure a reliable connection.
USING IDC CONNECTORS
1) Place the wires in position as shown in the F ig. 1 and hold in place whilst
firmly pressing in the metal insert with pliers. The metal insert will then
automatically strip the insulation from both wires at the point of contact.
2) Close the locking tab to hold the conne ctor together a s in Fig. 2.
3) Ensure that the vehicle wire and alarm wire is positioned where they cannot
be snagged by vehicle controls or the drivers and passengers feet.
