THE CHASSIS
CUSTOMIZING THE DEFAULT CHAINRING/SPROCKET SPECIFICATIONS
GENERAL NOTES
• The below table serves as a general guideline if the default gear ratio is meant to be changed (no guarantee on compatibility)
•
General limitations for different chainring/sprocket sizes: frame, fender adjustment range, chain/belt cover, spider, availability of options
• In some cases, the rear fender must be positioned differently to match the changed position of the rear wheel;
this requires using different fender spacers
• Changing the chainring or sprocket size may require adapting chain length or installing the matching chain or belt length
(use the Gates calculator)
COMO SL 4.0
(MY22)
• Smaller chainrings are generally possible
with the 104 BCD 4-bolt spider
• Chain length needs to be adapted
• 24t or 27t sprockets are available for
SG-C7050-5 hubs and can be mounted
• Chain needs to be shortened
• Not applicable
• The default 30t sprocket is the largest
Shimano sprocket available
WITH CHAIN GUARD:
40t (default)
WITHOUT CHAIN GUARD:
• Larger chainrings, e.g. 42t or 44t, can be
mounted (chain length needs to be adapted)
• 44t chainring of Vado SL can be used
(S221400001 or S201400001)
COMO SL 5.0
(MY22)
39t is the smallest Gates chainring for the 104
BCD 4-bolt spider
• Matching belt length required
(Gates calculator)
• Visually not appealing since “lost”
in chain guard
• See chainring options on Gates homepage
Not compatible since 22t is the smallest Gates
CDX SUREFIT 3-LOBE sprocket
• A 24t sprocket can be mounted w/o changing
belt length
•
• The rear fender needs to be adjusted to the
front, using thinner spacers
WITH CHAIN GUARD:
46t (default)
WITHOUT CHAIN GUARD:
50t (belt length needs to be changed)
