5.3.4.2.2.2 Static/Manual Network Configuration
If you set the configuration type to “Static”, manual network configuration is possible. Now you
can set the IP address, subnet mask and the address of the standard gateway as well as the
name server. These settings can also be made without an active network connection.
The Web interface checks the entered addresses for plausibility. However, the
topology of the network landscape must always be assessed by an administrator
and/or system integrator which is familiar with the network.
5.3.4.2.3 DNS
While the addresses of the DNS server are typically also configured when automatically
obtaining the IP configuration (from DHCP), this must be made manually in case of static IP
configuration. The “Name server” field may be used to this end.
