Overview

The Splendide 7100XC is an automatic clothes washer and ventless dryer, designed to provide comprehensive laundry care in a single, compact unit. This appliance is ideal for installations where space is limited, such as luxury RVs, yachts, or apartment closets, offering powerful washing and drying performance while conserving energy and water.

Function Description

The Splendide 7100XC operates as a front-loading washer-dryer with a stainless steel drum. It features 10 distinct wash programs, 7 water temperature settings, and 3 dry programs, allowing for versatile laundry care tailored to various fabric types and soil levels. With a maximum spin speed of 1200 RPM, it ensures efficient water extraction for better drying performance.

The appliance utilizes a unique condenser drying system, which heats the laundry to create steam and then cools the outer drum. This process condenses the steam back into water, which is then pumped out through the drain system. This ventless design means no outside venting is required, and no heated or conditioned air is exhausted externally, making it suitable for enclosed spaces. The system effectively contains all humidity within the unit, draining it as water, and does not add moisture or humidity to the surrounding area.

Usage Features

The control panel of the Splendide 7100XC is designed for intuitive operation. The ON/OFF (Door Open) Button powers the unit, unlocks the door during cycles, and can restart specific cycles. The DOOR LOCK LED indicates when the door is safely locked or can be opened, with a safety feature that allows unlocking for up to 5 minutes into a WASH cycle and at any time during a DRY cycle.

The CYCLE Selector knob allows users to choose between various wash and dry programs, which are conveniently listed on a program key located on the dispenser drawer. The WASH TEMP Selector sets the water temperature for wash cycles, with rinse water always being cold. The DRY TIME Selector enables selection of desired drying minutes (20 to 120) or one of two AUTO dry cycles: "Less Dry" for slightly damp, easy-to-iron clothes, and "Very Dry" for thoroughly dry items like towels or bathrobes.

Several OPTION Buttons allow for customization of wash cycles:

  • EXTRA RINSE: Adds an additional rinse to the wash cycle (not available for Delicates). This is beneficial for removing more dirt/detergent, especially for those with detergent contact allergies.
  • LOW SPIN: Reduces the high spin speed to 600 rpm (not available for Delicates), which can help minimize wrinkling.
  • LOW HEAT: Reduces the dryer heat temperature for selected dry cycles, ideal for delicate items or to prevent excessive heat damage.
  • PRE-WASH: Adds an extra fill at the beginning of the wash cycle for heavily soiled loads.

The START (Cancel) Button initiates a program or, when pressed and held, cancels a program in progress. STATUS LEDs indicate the current phase of the cycle.

The appliance incorporates several advanced features to enhance usability and performance:

  • Automatic Dispenser Drawer: Automatically dispenses laundry aids (detergent, bleach, softener) at the appropriate time during the wash cycle. It includes compartments for pre-wash detergent, main wash detergent, fabric softener, and bleach.
  • Auto Water/Energy Control: Automatically adjusts the amount of water and energy used for each load, optimizing resource efficiency.
  • Safety Door Lock: Prevents the door from being opened when it is unsafe during operation.
  • Express Wash: A quicker cycle for lightly soiled cotton heavy duty and permanent press fabrics.
  • More Rinse Cycles: Unlike most washers, this unit performs 2-3 rinses after every wash (except Express Wash) and offers an Extra Rinse option.
  • Foam Removal System: Automatically detects and manages excessive foam by adding water to the drum, ensuring optimal rinsing.
  • Recirculating Wash Feature: Water and detergent are recirculated throughout the drum, ensuring thorough detergent dissolution and maximum resource efficiency.
  • Automatic Balance System: The motor adjusts speed or stops to reposition out-of-balance loads, preventing excessive vibration.
  • Impulse Spin Technology (IST): This exclusive processor varies pulse in low spin for less wrinkling, reduced wear on clothing, lower noise and vibration, and improved energy efficiency.
  • Extra-Large Door Opening: Facilitates easier loading and unloading of laundry.
  • Dryer Cool Down: The final minutes of the dry cycle involve tumbling clothes without heat, cooling fabrics, buttons, and snaps for safe handling and reduced wrinkling.

When setting a wash-to-dry cycle, users select the wash cycle and temperature, optionally add options, then set the desired drying minutes or an AUTO dry cycle. The machine will automatically transition from wash to dry. For wash-only cycles, the DRY TIME knob is set to 'OFF'. For dry-only cycles, the CYCLE Selector is set to a specific dry program, and the DRY TIME is selected.

Maintenance Features

The Splendide 7100XC is designed for ease of maintenance:

  • Turning off Water/Electricity: It is recommended to turn off the water supply after each wash to limit wear on the water system and prevent leaks. The appliance should be unplugged during cleaning, vacations, or any maintenance.
  • Checking Water Inlet Hoses: Users should inspect inlet hoses annually for cracks, bulges, or wear and replace them if necessary. Filters and water valves should also be cleaned. It is crucial to replace inlet hoses at least every five years to reduce the risk of failure, marking the replacement date on the label.
  • Cleaning the Appliance Exterior: The exterior and rubber parts can be cleaned with a soft cloth soaked in lukewarm soapy water; solvents or abrasives should be avoided.
  • Cleaning the Dispenser Drawer: The dispenser drawer is removable and can be washed under running water.
  • Caring for the Appliance Door and Drum: Leaving the appliance door ajar when not in use helps prevent unpleasant odors from forming inside the drum.
  • Cleaning the Interior: The interior of the machine should be periodically cleaned by a qualified service technician. This prevents lint and oversudsing from clogging the condensing chamber and fan blower, which can reduce drying efficiency.
  • Cleaning the Pump Pre-Chamber: While the washer-dryer has a self-cleaning pump that generally doesn't require regular maintenance, small items like coins or buttons can fall into the pre-chamber. To retrieve these, the cover panel on the lower front of the machine can be removed with a screwdriver, and the pre-chamber unscrewed. A small amount of water may trickle out, which is normal. The interior should be cleaned thoroughly before reassembling.
  • No Lint Filter to Clean: A significant maintenance advantage is that the Splendide 7100XC automatically removes lint with its self-cleaning pump, eliminating the need for a separate lint filter.
