Problem Action
Unit won’t turn on or shuts
off soon after turn on
Replace battery
Unit won’t turn on or off and
battery is good
Remove battery for 15 seconds
and try again
After installing new battery
display reads 8888 and tone
is steady
Remove battery and make reverse
polarity contact with battery clips
and try again
Unit is stuck in an undesired
function and you can’t
remember how to escape
Initialise as described under
‘hidden functions’ (page 15)
Cord flashes on display or
readings are not repeatable
Check cord and base unit and
return to factory for repair if
damaged
ErrX flashes on display when
unit is switch on
Return to factory – unit may
need service
