9 Starting and Stopping the Engine
Engage the chain brake (2).
If a decompression valve (1) is fitted: Depress the
decompression valve (1).
Press down the throttle trigger lockout (5) and hold it
there.
Pull the throttle trigger (4) and hold it there.
Move the Master Control lever (3) to position .
Hold the chainsaw firmly in one of three ways:
Place the saw on level ground. Hold the saw firmly on
the ground with your left hand on the handlebar – your
thumb should be under the handle. Put the toe of your
right boot into the rear handle and press down.
Place the saw on level ground. Hold the saw firmly on
the ground with your left hand on the handlebar – your
thumb should be under the handle. Put the heel of your
right boot into the rear handle and press down.
Hold the saw firmly with your left hand on the handlebar
your thumb should be under the handle. Hold the rear
handle tightly between your legs, just above the knees.
Pull the starter grip slowly with your right hand until you
feel it engage.
Pull the starter grip quickly and allow the starter rope to
rewind several times until the engine fires and stops.
If the engine does not stop: Move the Master Control lever
(3) to position so that the engine does not flood.
The engine stops.
9.3 Starting the Engine
Select the correct starting procedure.
Engage the chain brake (2).
Pull off the chain guard (scabbard).
If a decompression valve (1) is fitted: Depress the
decompression valve (1).
