Overview

The STRONG Digital Free-To-Air Terrestrial Receiver SRT 5011 is designed to provide access to digital Free-To-Air TV and Radio programmes using an outdoor or indoor terrestrial antenna. This DVB-T compliant receiver features a Digital UHF/VHF Tuner with a Loop-through function, allowing for flexible integration into existing home entertainment setups.

Function Description:

The primary function of the SRT 5011 is to receive and decode digital terrestrial broadcast signals, delivering high-quality audio and video to your television. It supports both TV and Radio modes, allowing users to switch between digital television channels and digital radio stations. The receiver is equipped with a memory capacity for up to 1,000 channels, ensuring ample space for all available programmes.

For ease of use, the receiver offers both automatic and manual channel scan options, simplifying the process of finding and storing channels. It also supports channel numbering as defined by broadcasters, which helps maintain a logical channel order. A favourite list feature is available for both TV and Radio, enabling users to quickly access their preferred channels.

The SRT 5011 includes a Parental Lock function, which can be applied to the menu and selected channels, providing control over content access. This feature requires a PIN code to unlock restricted content or menu settings.

An Electronic Program Guide (EPG) is integrated, offering present/following event information and up to 7 days of on-screen programme details. This allows users to plan their viewing and recording schedules effectively. The receiver also supports Teletext (OSD & VBI) and multi-lingual subtitling and audio track support, enhancing the viewing experience for diverse audiences.

Connectivity options are comprehensive, including two SCART connectors (one for TV and one for VCR), and three RCA connectors (Video, Audio Left, and Right) for connecting to various audio/video equipment. A digital audio output through coaxial S/PDIF is also provided for connecting to a digital audio amplifier, ensuring excellent audio quality.

The receiver features a Mosaic function, which displays an overview of 9 TV channels simultaneously, allowing for quick browsing of available programmes. An automatic clock change function for summer/winter time is also included, ensuring accurate time display without manual adjustment. Additionally, the timer can be programmed via the EPG, simplifying scheduled recordings or wake-up/sleep functions. The receiver supports NTSC/PAL identification and automatic/manual conversion, ensuring compatibility with different TV standards.

Usage Features:

The SRT 5011 is designed for quick and easy installation with a user-friendly, multi-lingual on-screen menu. Upon first power-on, an Installation Wizard guides users through the initial setup, including language selection, country preference, antenna power mode, and channel numbering. The wizard also assists in adjusting the antenna to achieve maximum signal level and quality before initiating an automatic channel search. For professional installers, the wizard can be skipped to access the Channel Search menu directly.

The Main Menu provides access to all important settings and features, organized into sub-menus such as "Channel Organiser," "Channel Search," "Installation," "Timer," and "Game."

The Channel Organiser allows users to manage their TV and Radio channels. In the "Edit TV Channel" menu, users can set favourite channels, change the order of channels, and delete unwanted channels. Channels can be moved to new locations or marked for deletion, with changes applied upon exiting the menu. A similar function is available for "Edit Radio Channels." Channels can also be sorted by Channel Name, LCN (Logical Channel Number), or Channel Number.

The Channel Search menu offers "Automatic Search" and "Manual Search" options. Automatic Search scans for all available channels and saves the service information. Manual Search allows users to input a specific channel number and check signal level and quality before searching.

The Installation menu includes "System Setting," where users can configure language, TV settings (TV Standard, TV Format, Video Output), country, channel numbering, antenna power, and time settings. The "Antenna Power" setting allows activation of 5V output for active antennas, provided the antenna's power consumption does not exceed 100 mA. Time settings can be configured using GMT or manually, with automatic summer/winter time changes if provided by the broadcaster. A "Factory Default" option is available to reset all user data and return the receiver to its original state.

"Personal Style" settings allow customization of the menu's appearance, including colour, transparency level, border pattern, and entry animation.

The "Parental Control" menu enables users to set "Channel Lock" and "Menu Lock" statuses, as well as change the PIN Code. If channel lock is active, the PIN must be entered to view locked channels. Menu lock prevents unauthorized access to menu operations like channel search and factory reset.

The "System Information" menu displays software version details, while "System Update" facilitates software updates from receiver to receiver or via a PC using an RS-232 serial port. Detailed instructions are provided for both update methods, emphasizing the importance of correct procedures to avoid damaging the receiver.

The "Timer" function allows users to program the receiver to perform designated actions, such as powering on, switching off, or tuning to a specific channel at a set date and time. The timer can be set for one-time, daily, or weekly cycles.

The receiver also includes a "Game" menu with a calendar and three games: Mine, Tetris, and Gomoku. These can be accessed directly from the normal play state using the GAME key on the remote control.

Other operations include "Mosaic" for viewing 9 channels simultaneously, "EPG" for accessing the Electronic Program Guide and setting event timers, "Teletext" for displaying teletext pages, and "Subtitles" for selecting subtitle languages. The "Information" key provides current channel information.

Maintenance Features:

The manual provides important safety instructions to ensure proper operation and longevity of the device. Users are advised not to install the receiver in closed or poorly ventilated cabinets, directly on top of or under other equipment, or on surfaces that obstruct ventilation slots. The receiver should not be exposed to direct sunlight, heat-generating equipment, rain, intense moisture, vibrations, or magnetic objects.

Users are warned against using damaged power cords and touching power cords with wet hands. Opening the receiver cover is strictly prohibited as it voids the warranty and exposes users to high voltage currents. When the receiver is not in use for extended periods, it should be unplugged from the wall socket.

Cleaning the receiver should be done with a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with a mild soap solution, only after disconnecting it from the mains voltage supply. Foreign objects should not be allowed to fall through ventilation slots. No objects should be placed on top of the receiver to ensure proper cooling.

When connecting cables, the receiver must be disconnected from the mains supply voltage, and a few seconds should be allowed after switching off before moving or disconnecting equipment. Only approved extensions and compatible wiring suitable for the electrical power consumption should be used.

The manual includes a "Troubleshooting" section to help users resolve common issues before contacting service. This section covers problems related to channel installation (e.g., receiver not finding channels, "Antenna Power Overloaded" message), general issues (e.g., standby indicator not lighting up, red standby indicator), remote control malfunctions, and audio/video problems (e.g., TV picture changes colour, blocks in TV picture). For each symptom, a remedy is suggested, such as checking antenna direction, cable connections, power supply, remote control batteries, or VCR settings.

The packaging is designed to protect the receiver and accessories during storage and delivery. Users are advised to keep packaging away from children and to repack the receiver in its original packaging with all accessories if returning it under warranty or for transportation.

Environmental issues are addressed, with STRONG committing to reducing the environmental impact of its products. Users are encouraged to recycle the product at the end of its useful life, rather than disposing of it with domestic rubbish. Information on local recycling centres and retailer collection schemes is provided. Packaging materials should also be recycled. For power saving, users are advised to put the product into standby mode when not in use and disconnect it from the mains supply for longer periods. Batteries from the remote control should not be disposed of with domestic waste but should be recycled through local collection schemes.
