After removing the plastic cap, 4.
using your thumb and the index
fi nger, hold the CPU at the north
and south center edges.
Align the CPU key, which is the 5.
semi-circle cutout against the
socket key, which is the notch be-
low the gold color dot, on the side
of the socket.
When both CPU and the socket are 6.
aligned, carefully lower the CPU
straight down into the socket. (Do
not rub the CPU against the surface
of the socket or its pins to avoid
damaging the CPU or the socket.)
With the CPU inside the socket, 7.
inspect the four corners of the CPU
to make sure that the CPU is prop-
erly installed.
Once the CPU is securely seated 8.
on the socket, lower the CPU load
plate to the socket.
Use your thumb to gently push the 9.
socket clip down to the clip lock.
Warning: Be sure to save the
plastic cap. The motherboard
must be shipped with the plas-
tic cap properly installed to
protect the CPU socket pins.
Shipment without the plastic
cap properly installed on the
CPU will cause damage to the
socket pins.
