Decode UPC/EAN Supplementals
Supplementals are characters (either 2 or 5) that are added on according to specific code
format conventions (e.g., UPC A+2, UPC E+2, EAN 8+2). Three options are available.
• If Decode UPC/EAN with supplementals is selected, UPC/EAN symbols without
supplemental characters are not decoded.
• If Ignore UPC/EAN with supplementals is selected, UPC/EAN symbols with
supplemental characters are decoded and the supplemental characters are
ignored.
• If Autodiscriminate UPC/EAN supplementals is selected, UPC/EAN symbols,
either with or without supplementals, are decoded. If selected, choose an
appropriate Decode UPC/EAN Supplemental Redundancy value from the next
page.
Note:To minimize the risk of invalid data transmission, select whether to
read or ignore supplemental characters.
