APPE ND IX A - Using Electronically Balanced Inputs and Outputs
Electronically balanced inputs and outputs must sometimes be treated differently from
transformer co u pled inputs and outputs.
W it h bal a nc ed e qu i pm ent
When the 528 is used with equipment also equipped with balanced inputs and outputs (o f
any type):
• Be sure polarities are matched (i f desired) , then conne c t:
hi ( +) to hi ( +)
low (-) to low( - )
ground to ground
The polarity m ay be changed by reversing the ( +) and (- ) connections .
With u nba lan ced equi pme nt
When the 528 is used with equipment havi ng unbalanced inputs and / or outputs :
•
To use the 528's inputs with unbalanced outputs , connect :
tip to hi (+)
ground the low ( - ) input
ground to gro _ und (s leeve)
The polarity may be changed by reversing the (+) and (- ) c onnecti o ns.
• To use the 528's termi n al strip output with unbalanced inputs, connect:
hi (+) to tip
ground to sleeve
DO NOT CONNECT THE LOW (- ) OUTPUT
The polarity may be changed by reversing the (+) and (- ) connections. Remember, th e
1 / 4" output jack also proivides an unbalanced output.
CAUTION
The 528's electronically balanced output drives both the high and low
lets of the output equally, with opposite polarity . Do not ground th e
un used leg when operating the 528 with unbalanced equipment .
