UPGRADING FROM P RIME TO P RIME G
The standard Prime thermal cycler can be easily and quickly upgraded to the gradient PrimeG version
by purchasing the PrimeX/USB upgrade. The upgrade consists of a license certificate printed with a
unique upgrade code which allows gradient functionality to be installed on any non-gradient Techne
Prime thermal cycler.
Purchase of this license certificate authorises the owner of any non-gradient Techne Prime thermal
cycler to lawfully utilise the gradient capability of that thermal cycler in all European and American
geographies. The license is machine-specific and non-transferable.
Gradient upgrade procedure:
• Turn on the Prime unit.
• On the home screen, touch Settings and then
More Settings , followed by Add Gradient
Feature .
• Go to the address www.techne.com. Click on
Support then Technical Support . Under
Further Information click on Thermal Cycler
Gradient Upgrade .
• Insert the serial number from the Prime into the
website twice as instructed.
• Insert the upgrade code printed on the certificate
into the website.
• Click Show confirmation number .
• Insert the upgrade code and confirmation
number into the Prime and touch Validate .
• The Prime is now upgraded.
