original cable lengths. A modication beyond
results in a signicantly changed load distribu-
tion on the bicycle and entails potentially criti-
cal steering properties)
Saddle and seat post unit
(Provided that the offset to the rear does not
exceed 20 mm with regard to the series/ origi-
nal eld of use. In this case, as well, a modied
load distribution beyond the intended setting
range may possibly lead to critical steering
properties. The length of the saddle rails at the
saddle structure as well as the saddle form are
also important)
Headlights
(Headlights are designed for a specic voltage
which must be compatible with the recharge-
able batteries of the vehicles. In addition, the
electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) must be
ensured whereas the headlight may be respon-
sible for a part of the potential disturbance)

Separate regulations for speed
pedelecs / e-bikes
If your bicycle supports speeds fast-
er than 25 km/h, it is not a pedelec
pursuant to guideline 2002 / 2004 /
EG, and it therefore requires type and indi-
vidual vehicle approval.
The following applies:
Speed pedelecs are legally categorised as
mopeds in class L1e.
On journeys using motor support, you are not
permitted to ride over 20 km/h.
The motor support switches off when you
reach approx. 45 km/h.
Please inform yourself about the applicable
regulations regarding wearing a helmet. How-
ever, for safety reasons you should never ride
without a helmet
A driving license is required. Please inform
yourself about the applicable regulations re-
garding licenses. It is possible that a minimum
age is enough to be allowed to ride without a
driving license.
If you have a national driving license for a car,
the required permission may be covered by this.
The obligation to wear a helmet is being dis-
cussed in many countrys. Please inform your-
self about the applicable regulations before us-
ing your bike. For your own safety you should
never ride without a helmet!
These regulations also apply to you if you are
within the scope of the European Union. Other
regulations may apply in other countries, includ-
ing other European nations in isolated cases.
Please inform yourself about the applicable leg-
islation for using your pedelec!
