The Single Seq button sets trigger parameters to the correct settings for
a single-shot acquis
ition.
Optimizing the Acquisition
The initial acquis
ition shows the relay co ntact beginning to open at the
trigger point. This is follo wed by a large spikes that indicate contact
bounce and inductan ce in the circuit. The inductance can cause contact
arcing and prema
ture relay failure.
Before you take the next acquisition, you can adjust the vertical and
horizontal co
ntrols to give you a preview of how the next acquisition
might appear. As you adjust these controls, the cu rrent acquisition
is repositioned, expanded, or comp ressed. This preview is useful to
optimize the
settings bef or e the next single-shot event is captured.
When the next acquisition is captured with the new v ertical and
horizonta
l settings, you can see m ore detail about the r elay contact
opening. You can now see that the contact bounces several times as
it open s.
