Instructions for Stainless Steel Vertical Column Installation
2.6. Behnke letterbox system
For letterboxes -; -;
(Where necessary) guide the connection
cables through the letterbox base, prior to
screwing the letterbox system to the founda-
tion. Use hex screws and plugs, stud bolts
or stay bolts to fix the letterbox base to the
concrete foundation (See chapter “. Foundation
sketch” on page ). We recommend using
screws etc. with a mm diameter and a length
of mm minimum.
Important! Please adhere to the torque indi-
cation for tightening as provided by the screw
manufacturer.
Please note: The fastening materials are not
included in the box.
It is essential to document the key numbers
of the cylinder locks controlling the inspection
door inside the stele/pylon and (where availa-
ble) the letterbox door inside the letterbox for
possible replacement orders at a later stage.
In the appendix of this manual, you will find a
list which can be removed and handed to the
customer.
* Where the installation is not level on the concrete
foundation, this may lead to the column body
being warped, which then may result in problems
concerning the columns’ waterproofness.

When installing letterbox systems and steles/
pylons with letterboxes, the following must
be observed: Your mail is protected from the
weather in letterbox systems or steles/pylons
with letterboxes from our company. When
installing a free-standing system, however, make
sure that the mail slot is not directly facing the
weather side. In order to achieve optimum water
protection for the mail, the letterbox systems
should be equipped with cladding on every side.
If possible, the letterbox systems and steles/
pylons with letterboxes should be located under
a canopy. The mail is only protected from water if
the mail is completely deposited in the box and
the flap is closed. If the mail is not fully inserted,
moisture and dirt will get into the mailbox.
It is necessary to always provide big enough
mailboxes for the upcoming demand. Use the
supplied screws, nuts, washers, and toothed
washers as well as the seals to screw the letter-
box system to a Behnke column or a third-party
product. A detailed drawing of the screw and seal
position is enclosed with the letterbox system.
