10.11HEIGHT OF CUT __________________________________________________________
The height of cut for the cutting unit is adjusted from 3/4 to 5-1/4 inch (1.9-13.3 cm) in 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) steps. The
height of cut result can be different from the heights given because of the condition of the turf and other conditions.
Park the mower on a flat and level surface. Completely lower the cutting units, turn the parking brake switch to the ON
position, stop the engine and remove the key.
Refer to the decal on the cutting units or the chart below to set the height of cut.
To decrease the height of cut -
a Remove the three retaining ring pins.
b Lift the deck housing and put support blocks under the housing. Lower the deck housing on support blocks.
c Lift the outer spindle shaft. Remove the necessary 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) and 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) spacers to get the
correct number of spacers below the housing.
d Lift the deck housing and remove the supports. Lower the deck housing into position.
e Remove the washer. Put the removed spacers on the top of the stack then put the washer on the top of the
spacers. The washer is always on the top, under the retaining ring pins.
f Assemble the three retaining ring pins.
g Repeat for the remaining cutting units.
To decrease the height of cut -
a Remove the three retaining ring pins.
b Lift the deck housing above the new height of cut and put support blocks under the housing. Lower the deck
housing on support blocks.
c Remove the washer from the top of the stack. Lift the outer spindle shaft. Move the necessary 1/2 inch (1.3 cm)
and 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) spacers from the top to the bottom of the stack to get the correct number of spacers below
the housing.
d Lift the deck housing and remove the supports. Lower the deck housing into position.
e Put the washer on the top of the spacers. The washer is always on the top, under the retaining ring pins.
f Assemble the three retaining ring pins.
g Repeat for the remaining cutting units.
NOTICE
When cutting rough areas, a lower height of cut can cause scalping. Adjust the height of cut to prevent damage to
the turf.
WARNING
To prevent injury, lower the cutting unit until front casters and the rear roller are on the ground. To lower the cutting
units to the ground will prevent the cutting units to lower accidentally while you adjust the height of cut.
Make sure the parking brake is engaged, stop the engine and remove the key before you make adjustments to the
cutting units.
CAUTION
Use correct methods when you lift or lower the deck housing. The weight of the deck housing assembly is
approximately 50 lb. (23 kg).
