What to do if my THOMSON Switch won't re-transfer to the utility source?

  If your THOMSON Switch does not re-transfer to the utility source after power is restored, there might be several reasons. First, check if the isolation plug is out or the utility disconnect switch is de-energized; if so, switch to the energized position. Also, verify that a test mode hasn't been activated by checking the TSC 800 controller. Ensure the utility voltage is within pre-programmed limits, and check the utility source for adequate voltage.

What to do if my THOMSON Switch won't transfer to the generator after a utility power failure?

  If your THOMSON Switch fails to transfer to the generator source when the utility source fails, several factors could be at play. It could be that the generator set isn't producing enough voltage or frequency, or the output circuit breaker is open. Another possibility is that the TSC 800 has an incorrect voltage programmed for the system voltage. Also, the warmup time delay function might not have timed out yet; verify the TSC 800 timer setting. Finally, a 'Transfer Fail' alarm might be activated on the TSC 800; determine the cause of the alarm and rectify it before resetting the TSC 800. You can verify output signals with circuit board mounted diagnostic LEDs.

  If power isn't available at the load terminals of your THOMSON Switch, but the power switching device seems closed to a live source, it's possible that the power switching device's over current protection unit has opened due to a fault on the system. To resolve this, correct the fault and manually reset the power switching device in the transfer switch by moving it off and then on again using the manual operating handle.

Why is my THOMSON TS 880 transferring to generator power without a utility power failure?

  If your THOMSON Switch transfers to the generator source even without a power failure in the utility source, it could be due to a few reasons. A test mode might have been activated; check the TSC 800 controller. Alternatively, the utility supply voltage might be slightly below the voltage sensing setpoints; in this case, verify that the TSC 800 has the correct voltage program setting for the system voltage. You can verify output signals with circuit board mounted diagnostic LEDs. It's also possible that the utility power switching device has tripped due to an over current condition; determine the cause of the alarm and rectify it before the TSC 800 is reset.
