Storage
Ifyouwishtostorethemachineforalongperiodof
time,theperformfollowingsteps:
1.Alwaysshutofftheengine,removethekey(if
equipped),waitforallmovingpartstostop,
andallowthemachinetocoolbeforeadjusting,
cleaning,storing,orrepairingthemachine.
2.Removeaccumulationsofdirtandoldgrass
clippings.Sharpenthereelsandbedknives,if
necessary;refertothecuttingunitOperator's
Manual.Coatthebedknivesandreelblades
witharustpreventive.Oilalllubricationpoints.
3.Raiseandsupportthemachinetoremoveits
weightfromthetires.
4.Replacethehydraulicuidandlterandinspect
thehydrauliclinesandttings.Replace,if
necessary;refertoChangingtheHydraulicFluid
andFilter(page44)andCheckingtheHydraulic
LinesandHoses(page45).
5.Allfuelshouldberemovedfromthefueltank.
Runtheengineuntilitshutsoff.Replacethefuel
lter;refertoReplacingtheFuelFilter(page37).
6.Whiletheengineisstillwarm,draintheoilfrom
thecrankcase.Rellitwithfreshoil;referto
ChangingtheEngineOilandFilter(page36).
7.Removethesparkplugs,pour30ml(1oz)of
SAE30oilintothecylinders,andcrankslowlyto
distributetheoil.Replacethesparkplugs;refer
toReplacingtheSparkPlugs(page37).
8.Cleandirtandchafffromthecylinder,cylinder
headns,andblowerhousing.
9.Removethebatteryandchargeitfully;referto
ServicingtheBattery(page38).Eitherstoreit
ontheshelforonthemachine.Leavethecables
disconnectedifitisstoredonthemachine.
Storethebatteryinacoolatmospheretoavoid
quickdeteriorationofthechargeinthebattery.
10.Ifpossible,storethemachineinawarm,dry
location.
