andmaydamagethefuelsystemcomponents.
Note:Youmustprimethesystemafteryouinstallthefuel
lters.
1.Wipecleanthesealingsurfacesofthelteradapters
fortheprimary-andsecondary-fuellters(Figure73
andFigure74).
2.Lubricatethesealsforthefuellterswithcleanengine
oil.
3.Installtheprimary-fuellterontothelteradapter,
andtightenthelteruntilthegasketcontactsthelter
headsurface(Figure73).
4.Tightenthefuellteranadditional3/4turnafter
contact.
Important:Donotovertightenthefuellter.
5.Connectthewiringharnesstothewater-in-fuelsensor.
6.Installthesecondary-fuellterontothelteradapter,
andtightenthelteruntilthegasketcontactsthelter
headsurface(Figure74).
7.Tightenthefuellteranadditional3/4turnafter
contact.
Important:Donotovertightenthefuellter.
8.Bleedtheairfromthefuelsystembyprimingthe
system;refertoPrimingtheFuelSystem(page51).
PrimingtheFuelSystem
WARNING
Thefuelsystemisunderhighpressure.Bleeding
thesystemwithoutproperprecautionsandtraining
couldresultininjurytoyoufrominjecteduidor
reorexplosion.
Donotloosenanyttingswhiletheengineis
running.
Readtheengineowner’smanualfortheproper
bleedingprocedureorcontactyourAuthorized
ToroServiceDealer.
Primethefuelsystemtoremoveairfromthesystemafterthe
followingevents:
Theenginehasrununtilthefueltankisempty.
Thefuelltersarereplaced.
Partsofthefuelsystemareremovedforrepair.
1.Ensurethatthereisfuelinthefueltank.
2.Rotatethebattery-disconnectswitchclockwisetothe
Onposition;refertoBattery-DisconnectSwitch(page
20).
3.Cleanthefuel-pumpheadandtheprimingpumpusing
aquick-dryspraycleanerandcompressedair(Figure
75).

counterclockwise(Figure75).
5.Pumptheprimerhandle(Figure75)untilyoufeel
resistanceandthehandlecannotbepumpedanymore
(approximately140to150strokesfordryltersor20
to60strokesforpre-lledlters).
6.Lockthemanualprimingpumphandlebyturningit
clockwiseuntilitisfullyseated(Figure75).
7.Starttheengine;refertoOperatingtheEngine(page
33).
Important:Donotengagethestartermotorfor
morethan10secondsatatime.Allow2minutes
betweencrankingintervals.
Note:Iftheenginedoesnotstartafterprimingthe
fuelsystemandmakingseveralattemptstostartthe
engine,bleedthehigh-pressurefuellines;refertoyour
engineowner’smanualorcontactyourAuthorized
ToroServiceDealerforassistance.
8.Iftheenginedoesnotstart,pumptheprimingpump
andrepeatsteps4through7untiltheenginestarts.
Note:Whentheenginestarts,itmayrunerratically
andlouderthannormalforafewminutes.Thisis
normal,asairisbeingpurgedfromthesystem.
9.Operatetheengineuntilitrunssmoothly,thencheck
foranyleaks.
