1.Wipecleanthesealingsurfacesofthelteradapters
fortheprimary-andsecondary-fuellters(Figure73

2.Lubricatethesealsforthefuellterswithcleanengine
oil.
3.Installtheprimary-fuellterontothelteradapter,
andtightenthelteruntilthegasketcontactsthelter
headsurface(Figure73).
4.Tightenthefuellteranadditional3/4turnafter
contact.
Important:Donotovertightenthefuellter.
5.Connectthewiringharnesstothewater-in-fuelsensor.
6.Installthesecondary-fuellterontothelteradapter,
andtightenthelteruntilthegasketcontactsthelter
headsurface(Figure74).
7.Tightenthefuellteranadditional3/4turnafter
contact.
Important:Donotovertightenthefuellter.
8.Bleedtheairfromthefuelsystembyprimingthe
system;refertoPrimingtheFuelSystem(page51).

Primethefuelsystemtoremoveairfromthesystemafterthe
followingevents:
•Theenginehasrununtilthefueltankisempty.
•Thefuelltersarereplaced.
•Partsofthefuelsystemareremovedforrepair.
1.Ensurethatthereisfuelinthefueltank.
2.Rotatethebattery-disconnectswitchclockwisetothe
Onposition;refertoBattery-DisconnectSwitch(page
20).
3.Cleanthefuel-pumpheadandtheprimingpumpusing
aquick-dryspraycleanerandcompressedair(Figure
75).

andlouderthannormalforafewminutes.Thisis
normal,asairisbeingpurgedfromthesystem.
9.Operatetheengineuntilitrunssmoothly,thencheck
foranyleaks.
