Removethebatterycoverasfollows:
1.Ensurethatthebattery-disconnectswitchisintheOff
position;refertoBattery-DisconnectSwitch(page20).
2.Removethe2nger-pullcoversfromtheholesinthe
batterycover.
3.Removethe4boltsthatsecuresthebatterycoverto
theROPSplatform(Figure76).
Note:Thebatterycoverislocatedbetweenthe
operatorseatandtherearROPSbulkhead.

Installthebatterycoverasfollows:
1.Aligntheholesinthemountingangesforthebattery
coverwiththeplatenutsintheROPSplatformaround
thebattery(Figure76).
2.SecurethebatterycovertotheROPSplatformwith
the4bolts(Figure76).
3.Installthe2nger-pullcoversintotheholesofthe
batterycover.
ServicingtheBattery
WARNING
Exposuretobatteryacidorabatteryexplosioncan
causeseriouspersonalinjury.
Beforeyouserviceabattery,alwayswearface
protection,protectivegloves,andprotective
clothing.
WARNING
Abatterycontainssulfuricacid,whichcancause
seriousburns;andtheycanproduceexplosive
gases.
•Avoidcontactwithskin,eyes,orclothing;ush
affectedareaswithwater.
•Iftakeninternally,drinklargequantitiesofwater
ormilk.
Do not inducevomiting.Seekmedical
attentionimmediately.
•Keepsparks,ames,andlitcigarettesandcigars
awayfromthebattery.
•Ventilatethebatterywhenyouarechargingitor
usingitinanenclosedarea.
•Weareyeprotectionwhenworkingneara
battery.
•Washyourhandsafterhandlingabattery.
•Keepthebatteryoutofthereachofchildren.
WARNING
Afrozenbatterycanbeexplosive,causingpersonal
injurytoyouorothersinthearea,ifyoutryto
chargethebatteryortrytojumpstartthebattery
andruntheengine.
Topreventthebatteryelectrolytefromfreezing,
keepthebatteryfullycharged.
WARNING
Sparksoraamecancausehydrogengasina
batterytoexplode.
Whenyoudisconnectthebatterycables,always
disconnectthenegative(-)cablerst.
Whenyouconnectthebatterycables,always
connectthenegative(-)cablelast.
Donotshort-circuitthebatterypostswithametal
object.
Donotweld,grind,orsmokenearabattery.
Note:Theelectricalsysteminthismachineis12volts.
