Adjusttheservicebrakeswhenthereismorethan1inch
(25mm)of“freetravel”ofthebrakepedal,orwhenthe
brakesdonotworkeffectively.Freetravelisthedistance
thebrakepedalmovesbeforebrakingresistanceisfelt.
1.Disengagethelockinglatchfromthebrakepedalsso
thatbothpedalsworkindependentlyofeachother.
2.Toreducefreetravelofthebrakepedals,tighten
thebrakes:
A.Loosenthefrontnutonthethreadedendofthe
brakecable.
B.Tightentherearnuttomovethecablebackward
untilthebrakepedalshave1/2to1inch(13to
25mm)offreetravel.
C.Tightenthefrontnutsafterthebrakesare
adjustedcorrectly.

afterevery100operatinghours.
1.Propertensionwillallow3/8inch(10mm)
deectionwhenaforceof10lbisappliedonthe
beltmidwaybetweenthepulleys.
2.Ifthedeectionisnot3/8inch(10mm),loosen
thealternatormountingbolts(Figure69).Increase
ordecreasethealternatorbelttensionandtighten
thebolts.Checkthedeectionofthebeltagainto
ensurethatthetensioniscorrect.
