Tomaintainenoughpowerforthemachineanddeckwhile
mowing,operatetheengineatthefastthrottlepositionand
adjustyourgroundspeedforconditions.Agoodruleto
followistodecreasegroundspeedastheloadonthecutting
bladesincreases;andincreasegroundspeedastheloadonthe
bladesdecreases.
MowingDirection
Alternatemowingdirectiontoavoidmakingrutsintheturf
overtime.Thisalsohelpsdisperseclippings,whichenhances
decompositionandfertilization.
CuttingSpeed
Toimprovecutquality,useaslowergroundspeedincertain
conditions.
AvoidCuttingTooLow
Ifthecuttingwidthofthemoweriswiderthanthemower
youpreviouslyused,raisethecuttingheighttoensurethat
uneventurfisnotcuttooshort.
SelecttheProperHeight-of-CutSetting
Removeapproximately25mm(1inch)ornomorethan1/3
ofthegrassbladewhencutting.Inexceptionallylushand
densegrass,youmayhavetoslowdowntheforwardspeed
and/orraisetheheight-of-cuttothenexthighersetting.
Important:Ifcuttingmorethat1/3ofthegrassblade
off,orinsparselonggrassordryconditions,theuse
ofatsailbladesisrecommendedtoreduceair-borne
chaff,debris,anddeckdrivecomponentstrain.
CuttingLongGrass
Ifthegrassiseverallowedtogrowslightlylongerthan
normal,orifitcontainsahighdegreeofmoisture,raisethe
cuttingheighthigherthanusualandcutthegrassatthis
setting.Thencutthegrassagainusingthelower,normal
setting.
KeepingtheMowerClean
Cleanclippingsanddirtfromtheundersideofthemower
aftereachuse.Ifgrassanddirtbuildupinsidethemower,
cuttingqualitywilleventuallybecomeunsatisfactory.
Toreducetheriskofrehazard,keeptheengine,mufer,
batterycompartment,parkingbrake,cuttingunits,andfuel
storagecompartmentfreeofgrass,leaves,orexcessivegrease.
Cleanupanyspilledoilorfuel.
MaintainingtheBlade
Maintainasharpbladethroughoutthecuttingseasonbecause
asharpbladecutscleanlywithouttearingorshreddingthe
grassblades.Tearingandshreddingturnsgrassbrownat
theedges,whichslowsgrowthandincreasesthechanceof
disease.Checkthebladesdailyforsharpness,andforany
wearordamage.Sharpenthebladesasnecessary.Ifablade
isdamagedorworn,replaceitimmediatelywithagenuine
Tororeplacementblade.
