RemovingtheElement
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurfaceanddisengage
thebladecontrol(PTO).
2.Stoptheengine,waitforallmovingpartstostop,and
removethekeybeforeleavingtheoperatingposition.
3.Openthehood.
4.Cleanaroundtheaircleanertopreventdirtfrom
gettingintotheengineandcausingdamage.
5.Liftthecoverandremovethehoseclampthat
securestheaircleanerassemblytotheengine

1.Lightlytaptheelementonasolidatsurfaceto
removedustanddirt.
2.Inspecttheelementfortears,anoilylm,and
damagetotheseal.
Important:Donotcleantheelementwith
pressurizedairorliquids,suchassolvents,
gasoline,orkerosene.Replacetheelementifit
isdamagedorcannotbecleanedthoroughly.
ServicingtheSparkPlugs
ServiceInterval:Every100hours—Checkthespark
plugs.
Ensurethattheairgapbetweenthecenterandside
electrodesiscorrectbeforeinstallingeachsparkplug.
Useasparkplugwrenchforremovingandinstalling
thesparkplugsandagappingtoolorfeelergaugeto
checkandadjusttheairgap.Installnewsparkplugsif
necessary.

RemovingtheSparkPlugs
1.Disengagethebladecontrol(PTO).
2.Stoptheengine,removethekey,andwaitforall
movingpartstostopbeforeleavingtheoperating
position.
3.Openthehood.
4.Removetheshieldoverthesparkplugs.
5.Disconnectthewirefromeachsparkplug
(Figure21).
