CAUTION
Ifthesafetyinterlockswitchesare
disconnectedordamaged,themachinecould
operateunexpectedly,causingpersonal
injury.
•Donottamperwiththeinterlockswitches.
•Checktheoperationoftheinterlock
switchesdailyandreplaceanydamaged
switchesbeforeoperatingthemachine.
Testthesafetyinterlocksystembeforeyouusethe
machineeachtime.Ifthesafetyinterlocksystemdoes
notoperateasdescribedbelow,haveanAuthorized
ServiceDealerrepairthesafetyinterlocksystem
immediately.Donotoperatethemachineuntilithas
beenrepaired.Whilesittingintheseat,performthe
followingchecks:
1.Settheparkingbrake,shiftthebladecontrol
(PTO)knobtotheEngageposition,andturn
theignitionkeytoStart:Theengineshouldnot
crank.
2.Shiftthebladecontrol(PTO)knobtothe
Disengageposition,releasetheparkingbrake,
andturntheignitionkeytoStart:Theengine
shouldnotcrank.
3.Setthetractionpedaltotheneutralposition,
settheparkingbrake,shiftthebladecontrol
(PTO)knobtoDisengage,andstarttheengine.
Whiletheengineisrunning,releasetheparking
brakeandriseslightlyfromtheseat:Theengine
shouldstop.
4.Withtheparkingbrakeset,shifttheblade
control(PTO)knobintotheDisengageposition,
putthetractioncontrolpedalintheNeutral
position,andstarttheengine.Whiletheengine
isrunning,shiftthebladecontrol(PTO)knob
intotheEngagepositionandputthetraction
controlpedalintheReverseposition:The
engineshouldstop.
5.Withtheparkingbrakeset,shifttheblade
control(PTO)knobintotheDisengageposition
andputthetractioncontrolpedalintheNeutral
position.Starttheengine,shifttheblade
control(PTO)knobintotheEngageposition,
andturntheKeyChoicekeyandreleaseit:
Theoperating-in-reversewarninglightshould
illuminate.
6.Shiftthebladecontrol(PTO)knobtothe
Disengageposition:Theoperating-in-reverse
warninglightshouldturnoff.
PushingtheMachine
Manually
Important:Alwayspushthemachinemanually.
Nevertowthemachinebecauseitmaydamage
thetransaxle.
ToPushtheMachine
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface.
2.Disengagetheblades(PTO).
3.Settheparkingbrake.
4.Stoptheengineandwaitforallmovingpartsto
stop.
5.Removetheignitionkey.
6.Removethegrasscollector;refertoRemoving
theGrassCollector(page31).
7.Pushthedrivecontrol(locatedattherearofthe
machine),intothePushposition.
8.Releasetheparkingbrake.
Note:Thisdisengagesthedrivesystemandallows
thewheelstoturnfreely(Figure13).
