1.Disengagetheblade-controlswitch(PTO),movethe
motion-controlleverstotheneutral-lockedposition,
andsettheparkingbrake.
2.Stoptheengine,removethekey,andwaitforallmoving
partstostopbeforeleavingtheoperatingposition.
3.Removethedustcapfromcasterandtightenthelock
nut(Figure65).
4.Tightenthelocknutuntilthespringwashersareat,
andthenbackoffa1/4turntoproperlysetthepreload
onthebearings(Figure65).
Important:Makesurethatthespringwashersare
installedcorrectlyasshowninFigure65.

Somelatermodelyearunitshavebeenbuiltwithclutchesthat
containabrakeshim.Whentheclutchbrakehasworntothe
pointwheretheclutchnolongerengagesconsistently,the
shimcanberemovedtoextendtheclutchlife.
