ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
Theengineisshippedwith3.7L(3.9USqt)(w/lter)
ofoilinthecrankcase;however,youmustcheckthe
oillevelbeforeandafterstartingtheenginetherst
time.
Usehigh-qualityengineoilthatmeetsthefollowing
specications:
•APIClassicationLevelRequired:CH–4,CI–4or
higher.
•Preferredoil:SAE10W–30
•Alternateoil:SAE15W–40
ToroPremiumEngineoilisavailablefromyour
distributorinthe10W–30viscosity.Seetheparts
catalogforpartnumbers.
Note:Thebesttimetochecktheengineoiliswhen
theengineiscoolbeforeithasbeenstartedforthe
day.Ifithasalreadybeenrun,allowtheoiltodrain
backdowntothesumpforatleast10minutesbefore
checking.IftheoillevelisatorbelowtheAddmark
onthedipstick,addoiltobringtheoilleveltotheFULL
mark.Donotoverll.
Important:Keeptheengineoillevelbetweenthe
upperandlowerlimitsontheoilgauge;theengine
mayfailifyourunitwithtoomuchortoolittleoil.

2.Removethedipstickandwipeitwithacleanrag
(Figure23).
Important:Removethedipstickwhilelling
theenginewithoil.Whenaddingengine
oilorllingoil,theremustbeclearance
betweentheoillldeviceandtheoilll
holeinthevalvecoverasshowninFigure
22.Thisclearanceisnecessarytopermit
ventingwhenlling,whichpreventsoilfrom
overrunningintobreather.
