BreakingintheMachine
Refertotheenginemanualsuppliedwiththe
machineforoilchangeandmaintenanceprocedures
recommendedduringthebreak-inperiod.
Only8hoursofmowingoperationisrequiredforthe
break-inperiod.
Sincethersthoursofoperationarecriticaltofuture
dependabilityofthemachine,monitoritsfunctionsand
performancecloselysothatminordifculties,which
couldleadtomajorproblems,arenotedandcanbe
corrected.Inspectthemachinefrequentlyduring
break-inforsignsofoilleakage,loosefasteners,or
anyothermalfunction.
StartingtheEngine
Important:Donotuseetherorothertypesof
startinguid.
Note:Youmayneedtobleedthefuelsystembefore
startingtheengineifanyofthefollowingsituations
haveoccurred:
Initialstartupofanewengine
Theenginehasceasedrunningduetolackoffuel.
Maintenancehasbeenperformeduponfuel
systemcomponents;ie.lterreplaced,etc.
Refertoyourengineowner’smanual.
1.Sitontheseat,locktheparkingbrake,
disengagetheraise/lowermowcontroland
movethefunctional-controllevertotheNEUTRAL
position.
2.Removeyourfootfromthetractionpedaland
makesurethepedalisintheNEUTRALposition.
3.MovethethrottlelevertotheSLOWposition.
4.Insertthekeyintotheswitchandrotateittothe
ONposition.HolditintheONpositionuntilthe
glow-plug-indicatorlightgoesoff(approximately
6seconds).
5.TurntheignitionkeytotheSTARTposition.
Important:Topreventoverheatingofthe
startermotor,donotengagethestarter
longerthan10seconds.After10secondsof
continuouscranking,wait60secondsbefore
engagingthestartermotoragain.
6.Releasethekeywhentheenginestartsand
allowittomovetotheONposition.
7.Allowtheenginetowarmupforafewminutes
beforeoperating.
Important:Whenstartingtheenginefor
thersttimeorafteranoverhaulofthe
engine,operatethemachineinforwardand
reverseforonetotwominutes.Turnthe
steeringwheeltotheleftandrighttocheck
thesteeringresponse.Thenshuttheengine
off(seeStoppinginStartingandStopping
theEngine)andwaitforallmovingpartsto
stop.Checkforoilleaks,loosepartsand
anyothernoticeablemalfunctions.
ShuttingOfftheEngine
1.MovethethrottlelevertotheSLOWposition,
disengagetheraise/lowermowcontrol,and
movethefunctional-controllevertotheNEUTRAL
position.
2.RotatethestarterkeytotheOFFpositiontoshut
theengineoff.Removethekeyfromtheswitch
topreventaccidentalstarting.
3.Closethefuel-shutoffvalvesbeforestoringthe
machine.
Checkingthe
Safety-InterlockSystem
CAUTION
Ifthesafetyinterlockswitchesare
disconnectedordamagedthemachinecould
operateunexpectedlycausingpersonalinjury.
Donottamperwiththeinterlockswitches.
Checktheoperationoftheinterlock
switchesdailyandreplaceanydamaged
switchesbeforeoperatingthemachine.
Thepurposeofthesafety-interlocksystemisto
preventoperationofthemachinewherethereis
possibleinjurytotheoperatorordamagetothe
machine.
