Thesafety-interlocksystempreventsthereelsfrom
operatingunlessthefunctional-controlleverisinthe
MOWposition.
Performthefollowingsystemchecksdailytoensure
thattheinterlocksystemisoperatingcorrectly:
1.Sitontheseat,movethetractionpedaltothe
NEUTRALposition,movethefunctional-control
levertotheNEUTRALposition,andengagethe
parkingbrake.
2.Trytopressthetractionpedal.
Thepedalshouldnotpress,whichmeansthat
theinterlocksystemisoperatingcorrectly.
Correcttheproblemifitisnotoperatingproperly.
3.Sitontheseat,movethetractionpedaltothe
NEUTRALposition,movethefunctional-control
levertotheNEUTRALposition,andengagethe
parkingbrake.
4.Movethefunctional-controllevertotheMOW
positionortheTRANSPORTpositionandtryto
starttheengine.
Theengineshouldnotturnoverorstart,which
meansthattheinterlocksystemisoperating
correctly.Correcttheproblemifitisnot
operatingproperly.
5.Sitontheseat,movethetractionpedaltothe
NEUTRALposition,movethefunctional-control
levertotheNEUTRALposition,andengagethe
parkingbrake.
6.Starttheengineandmovethefunctional-control
levertotheMOWpositionortheTRANSPORT
position.
Theengineshouldkill,whichmeansthatthe
interlocksystemisoperatingcorrectly.
Correcttheproblemifitisnotoperatingproperly.
7.Sitontheseat,movethetractionpedaltothe
NEUTRALposition,movethefunctionalcontrol
levertotheNEUTRALposition,andengagethe
parkingbrake.
8.Starttheengine.
9.Releasetheparkingbrake,movethefunctional
controllevertotheMOWposition,andrisefrom
theseat.
Theengineshouldshutoff,whichmeansthat
theinterlocksystemisoperatingcorrectly.
Correcttheproblemifitisnotoperatingproperly.
10.Sitontheseat,movethetractionpedaltothe
NEUTRALposition,movethefunctionalcontrol
levertotheNEUTRALposition,andengagethe
parkingbrake.
11.Starttheengine.
12.Movetheraise/lowermowcontrolforwardto
lowerthecuttingunits.Thecuttingunitsshould
lowerbutnotstartrotating.
Iftheystartrotating,theinterlocksystemisnot
operatingcorrectly;correcttheproblembefore
operatingthemachine.
InstallingandRemoving
theCuttingUnits
Note:Whensharpening,settingtheheight-of-cut,
orperformingothermaintenanceproceduresonthe
cuttingunits,storethecuttingunitreelmotorsinthe
storagelocationonthefrontofthesuspensionarms
topreventdamagetothem.
Important:Donotraisethesuspensiontothe
transportpositionwhenthereelmotorsarein
theholdersinthemachineframe.Damagetothe
motorsorhosescouldresult.
Important:Wheneveryouneedtotipthecutting
unit,propuprearofcuttingunittoensurethat
thenutsonthebedbaradjustingscrewsarenot
restingonworksurface(Figure28).
