StartingtheEngine
Important:Ifyouarestartingtheengineforthe
rsttime,theenginehasstoppedfromlackof
fuel,oryouperformedfuelsystemmaintenance,
bleedthefuelsystembeforestartingtheengine;
refertoPrimingtheFuelSystem(page45).
Important:Thismachineisttedwithanengine
startlockout;refertoUnderstandingtheOperator
PresenceControls(page23).
1.Engagetheparkingbrake,movethetraction
pedaltotheNEUTRALposition,andensurethat
thecuttingunitdriveswitchisintheOFFposition.
2.TurnthekeytotheINTAKEHEATER/RUNPOSITION
position.
Note:Thepre-heatindicatoricondisplays
intheInfoCenter.Waituntilthepre-heat
indicatoriconnolongerdisplays.

Whentheenginestarts,releasethekeytothe
intakeheater/runposition.
Important:Cranktheenginefornolonger
than15seconds.
4.Runtheengineatlowidlespeeduntilitwarms
up.
ShuttingOfftheEngine
Important:Allowtheenginetoidlefor5minutes
beforeshuttingitoffafterafull-loadoperation.
Thisallowstheturbochargertocooldownbefore
shuttingofftheengine.Failuretoidletheengine
maydamagetheturbocharger.
1.MovethetractionpedaltotheNEUTRALposition,
shutoffthecuttingunitdriveswitch,engagethe
parkingbrake,andlowerthecuttingunits.
2.Presstheenginespeedswitchuntiltheengine
speedisatlowidle.
3.Lettheenginerunforatleast5minutes.
4.Turnthekeytoshutoff(stop)position(Figure
25).
