Overview

The Toro Front Lift Frame is an accessory designed for the Sand Pro®/Infield Pro® 5040 Traction Unit, specifically for models with serial numbers 311000336 and up. This accessory enables the traction unit to mount and operate various front-mounted attachments, enhancing its versatility for turf maintenance tasks. The product complies with relevant European directives, and a Declaration of Incorporation is provided, confirming its conformity when installed according to instructions.

Function Description

The Front Lift Frame serves as a mounting platform for front-mounted attachments on the Sand Pro®/Infield Pro® 5040 Traction Unit. It integrates with the unit's hydraulic system to provide lifting, lowering, and float capabilities for the attached implements. The system is controlled via a lever, allowing the operator to precisely position attachments during operation. The installation process involves preparing the machine by removing shrouds and existing hydraulic components, then installing new lift valves, plow plates, push arms, a hitch frame, hydraulic cylinders, and associated hoses. Finally, a control panel and lever guide plate are installed to provide operational control.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Model Compatibility: Sand Pro®/Infield Pro® 5040 Traction Unit, Model No. 08712, Serial No. 311000336 and Up.
  • Net Weight: 38.5 kg (85 lb).
  • Hydraulic Fittings: Utilizes straight and 90° hydraulic fittings with O-rings for secure connections.
  • Fasteners: Various bolts and locknuts are used, with specific torque requirements for critical components (e.g., valve assembly fasteners to 10-12 N·m (90-110 in-lb), cylinder pin bolts to 203 N·m (150 ft-lb)).
  • Hydraulic Hoses: Specific part numbers are provided for the hydraulic hoses (e.g., 108-8449, 108-8453, 108-8454), ensuring correct routing and function.
  • Lift Valve Models: The installation procedure differentiates between Model 08705 and Model 08745 lift valves, each requiring specific components and steps.

Usage Features

  • Attachment Versatility: Designed to accept only certain front-mounted attachments, as specified by Toro. Attempting to install rear-mount attachments or unapproved implements may cause damage.
  • Hydraulic Control: The lift lever provides three primary functions:
    • Lower: Pushing the lift lever forward lowers the front lift frame.
    • Float: Pushing the lift lever forward and to the side into the detent allows the front lift frame to float, enabling the attachment to follow ground contours.
    • Raise: Pulling the lift lever rearward raises the front lift frame.
  • Operator Familiarity: Operators are advised to become familiar with the safe operation of the equipment, controls, and safety signs.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Hydraulic Fluid: Hydraulic fluid escaping under pressure can penetrate the skin and cause injury. Immediate surgical removal by a doctor familiar with this type of injury is necessary if injection occurs. Operators should keep body and hands away from pinhole leaks and nozzles ejecting high-pressure fluid, use cardboard or paper to detect leaks, and safely relieve all pressure in the hydraulic system before performing any work. All hydraulic-fluid hoses and lines must be in good condition, and connections and fittings tight before applying pressure.
    • Moving Parts/Hot Surfaces: Keep hands, feet, face, and other body parts away from rotating parts, the muffler, and other hot surfaces, especially when the engine is running for final adjustments.
  • Installation Flexibility: The manual provides distinct installation procedures for two different lift valve models (08705 and 08745), indicating adaptability to different machine configurations.
  • Hose Routing: Emphasizes proper routing of hydraulic hoses away from sharp, hot, or moving components to prevent damage and ensure longevity.

Maintenance Features

  • Greasing the Lift Frame: The front lift frame has 5 grease fittings that require regular lubrication with No. 2 lithium grease.
    • Frequency: Lubricate all bearings and bushings every 100 hours of operation under normal conditions.
    • Post-Washing: Lubricate immediately after every washing, regardless of the 100-hour interval.
  • Hydraulic Fluid Level: Operators are instructed to check and replenish the hydraulic-fluid level as required after installation and adjustments.
  • Fastener Tightness: All fasteners and fittings should be tightened securely after installation to prevent leaks and ensure structural integrity.
  • Hose Inspection: Regular inspection of hydraulic hoses for good condition and proper routing is crucial to prevent failures.
  • Documentation: The operator's manual should be read and stored in a safe location for future reference, providing essential information for operation and maintenance.
  • Warranty: The product is covered by a Two-Year or 1,500 Hours Limited Warranty, covering defects in materials or workmanship. Owner responsibilities include performing required maintenance and adjustments as stated in the Operator's Manual; failure to do so may void warranty coverage for related issues. Parts consumed through normal use are not covered. Specific warranty details are provided for deep cycle and lithium-ion batteries, and a lifetime crankshaft warranty for certain ProStripe models. Maintenance expenses like engine tune-ups, lubrication, and filter replacements are the owner's responsibility.
