CAUTION
Ifyouleavethekeyinthekeyswitch,someonecouldaccidentlystarttheengineandseriously
injureyouorotherbystanders.
Removethekeyfromthekeyswitchanddisconnectthewiresfromthesparkplugsbefore
youdoanymaintenance.Setthewiresasidesothattheydonotaccidentallycontactthe
sparkplugs.
Pre-Maintenance
Procedures
Important:Thefastenersonthecoversofthismachinearedesignedtoremainonthecoverafter
removal.Loosenallfastenersoneachcoverafewturnssothatthecoverisloosebutstillattached,
thengobackandloosenthemuntilthecovercomesfree.Thispreventsyoufromaccidentallystripping
theboltsfreeoftheretainers.
RemovingtheCoverPlate
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,engage
theparkingbrake(ifapplicable),andlowerthe
hydrauliclift.
2.Shutofftheengineandremovethekey.
WARNING
Thereisabeltunderthecoverthatis
movingwhenthemachineisrunning
andcancatchngers,hands,loosehair,
andclothing,causingseriousinjury,
amputation,ordeath.
Alwaysshutofftheengineandwaitfor
allmovingpartstostopbeforeremoving
thecover.
3.Loosentheboltattherearofthecoverplate.
4.Loosenthe3boltssecuringthecoverplateto
theframesequentiallyuntilthecoverisloose
(Figure21).
